Bright, white safflower seeds look pretty but have a bitter taste, which makes safflower a big plus at bird feeding stations. Squirrels often won't eat it. Safflower seed, included in many wildbird seed mixes, can be bought as a single ingredient as well, and ranks high as a favorite of the Northern Cardinal.
